so, we've had a change of plans here lately. A change which we are all okay with. It's a long story, so stop here if you don't care...we got some fun vacations out of this change at the very least, even if this change means we stay in douglas for who knows how much longer.
We recently went down to southern california and spent time with ed's family before he left for BORSTAR {BP search, trauma and rescue} training in San Diego at Coronado (think navy seals training camp... then think ouch.. then you are like .00001% close to invisioning the brutality of this camp). He left on monday afternoon and continually got his but kicked (many times, literally) for the following 24 hours. we got a call after that to come get him and that he was coming home. Long story that if you really wanna hear it, it's best from ed, but it just wasn't worth the risk. Out of 58 men to start with, ed was 45th to quit. (Side note: he is one of the few who passed everything and quit...he did not quit because he failed.) by the time ed had gotten his bags 4 or more had quit. We just found out today that NO ONE made it past day 3, and majority of the men went home with injuries...many serious (is torn acl's broken bones, etc). People, this was a 7 week academy and everyone left by the thrid day. Thankfully ed left before getting injured. let's just say Washington was very upset and is reprimanding some sectors for how they wasted a lot of money on this academy and didn't graduate anyone.
anyway, so plans changed, a move to tucson is not in our near 7 week future. am i sad? sorta, but it's okay i wasn't too keen on the idea of being 37 weeks pregnant and packing up a house and moving. But was excited to get away from the border. Oh well, other oportunities are sure to come so i can last in douglas a little longer.
Despite all the emotional ups and downs of me preparing to say good bye and gearing up for handling mackenzie on car rides with molars breaking and me ready to pop, but trying my hardest not to pop till ed came home, then having him come home, changing utah trip plans... ahh, everything turned out great. We got to spend a wonderful time in california with an awesome night breeze that i wanted to feel every night cause i slept great. grandma and grandpa spoiled us... and we got to see aunts and uncles and play with cousins.
Mackenzie was a trouper with how often and long we put her in the car driving to and from douglas to CA and then to SD back and forth 3 times. she did awesome.
I will post pictures when i have more time, but in the mean time, here is my favorite from the trip. Ed's dad took us to PF Changs for lunch and ed and mack played in the fountain.. and daddy had fun sculpting her hair with fountain water.
crazy, crazy. glad everything worked out ok. love you.
ReplyDeletewell now Ed will never have a regret and you get to see him! so it turned out good- the camp sounded brutal I dont blame him at all.
