Finally...

Okay, so finally i was able to find a wireless internet connection so that i could post some updates of what's been going on. I apologize in advance for the lack of photo documentation of my travels...more to come later. Anyway, first off... the laytons came to visit in april. YAY! maren being my favorite sister and all, and having an adorable kid made this visit so much fun...don't worry ryan, i like when you come too... We went shopping, traveled our old provo stomping grounds, ate at asian star, and attended the salt lake half marathon. i think i can safely say, i was leah's favorite person of the whole trip! As i should be because i killed my arm twice just to make sure she could sleep comfortably:) you're welcome leah.

this is dotes having a ball on my bed at my mom's house... she rolled around for hours.

This is leah with the awesome shirt designed by maren for the race day. It says "cancer drools...grandma rules!" yeah maren and i had on that said "mom rules" and my mom got one that said "i rule"...julia even joined in the fun and sported one that said "karen rules".

My mom, the amazing person that she is.. completely the salt lake half marathon.. in under 3 hours..walking! she's is crazy fast when it comes to swinging those hips! we were so proud of her.. it was such a big event that even my brother dan drove up from california just to surprise her and be there at the finish line! you rule mom! (also maren did awesome in the half marathon as well.. yay mare!)

Next event.... MOVING!

I lived in this mess for a few weeks while i packed up everything ed and i own in bountiful to prepare for the big move to az. We got some great (and much needed help) from some of ed's awesome friends to help me with getting and packing up the truck. Also, best of all, my brother in law brad was able to cancel his flight home to AZ to help me drive the truck down! How great is that. Also, a big thanks to Susan and Drew (Brad's sister and bro in law) for helping pack up and letting me stay at their house the night before the drive!

This was my view of the penske... sorry it's at night, but that's when i remembered to take one.. it was a long drive! Thanks for driving brad!

I got the good end of the deal while driving, i got company. my niece alyssa (brad's oldest girl) got to drive down with me. she was such a trooper! i got really good at changing the movies in the dvd player while driving so i could keep her happy:) She also had fun using my camera when we would stop... as seen with this picture of me...

Kip.. what can i say. what a car. he worked great the whole way down with no problems at all and even got the best gas mileage we have EVER gotten on him... thanks kip.

Alyssa and i on one of our many stops along the way.. this is just outside the grand canyon.

I made it safely down to douglas, az. I got our stuff in our house. I love my daily trips to walmart to give me something to do. it's definitely a different place down here, but i actually like it. It will be even better once i find a job and stop wasting my days watching tv...i am getting pretty far on my "deliciously difficult" jelly belly puzzle.

I will take pictures of our place soon... i've just been really busy setting it up and getting it ready for ed (he came to visit last week!!! yay!) I can't wait for 2 more weeks from yesterday.. he will be DONE! and can move home... that will be the best day of my life!

  1. good for you for packing up all by yourself. did you guys buy a house?

your mom is awesome! power walking is so hard, it's way harder to keep up your momentum than with running. plus it is SO good for toning the butt and thighs! way to go karen!

  2. I'm not sure I have a butt left to tone, but it really was a great race - thanks to my great kids. KB, I miss you. Let me know when you get the baking pans - I know you'll want to make some delicious cookies! I'm amazed that's all that got left behind in your move - you are awesome.

  5. We wish we had seen you before you moved to AZ! Your brothers came over one night and hung out with Ryan, they were laughing the whole time. I'm glad you and Ed will be reunited again!
